It’s easy to get caught up with colors, textures, and trends when designing a space. One of the valuable features homeowners often forget to plan for is the cabinet accessory.
Read MoreMixing materials is an on-going design request. What first started off as a trend years ago, more homeowners are mixing it up to create warmth and contrast.
A Walnut pantry adds warmth to an all white kitchen
White kitchens, white countertops, and white accents can be too much for some homeowners. But selecting areas of contrast, like an island or pantry, breaks up the stark white and adds warmth and character to an otherwise sterile aesthetic.
A darker material was selected for the island, while a Walnut band at the range hood adds contrast against the UltraMatte White cabinetry
Using lighter materials at the upper cabinets and leaving the base cabinets in a darker tone makes a smaller kitchen look larger. The white countertops keeps the aesthetic clean and fresh
Every year, the design and build industry announces a trend forecast. Luckily for homes in Hawaii, our design aesthetics remain relevant and we can either ignore the ever-changing color and design trends, or use a couple here and there to accent ones we still have from previous years.

Read MoreWill trends help you with your kitchen and bath design? It actually will. Trends serve as inspirations and while some may seem outrageous or out of reach, they do help us in finalizing colors, materials, and wish-lists for future remodels.

Read MoreWe’ve all had to change the way we function in everyday life. Priorities for homeowners are also changing, with some remodeling plans being put on hold for now. The Design and Construction Industry is experiencing unchartered waters as well but most of us have adapted to the new “norm” while we get through this situation (read what some experts have to say about COVID-19 and the impact on Hawaii’s remodeling industry HERE).
For those homeowners that were on the cusp of starting the initial remodeling process and now quarantined in place, this is the time to pick up where you left off or to start thinking about your remodeling in depth. Gather your wish list items, browse through websites, and start contacting local companies to get more information to help with your plans.
Like most of us in the production/fabrication industry, we are considered an essential business. However, we’ve had to adjust the way we carry on day to day to make sure we are following guidelines to keep everyone safe. Although we are not meeting customers in person at our shop, we are offering other tools to stay connected.
Estimates for cabinets and countertops can be obtained via email by sending your plans/drawings for an initial budget. Viewing of cabinet samples and having virtual meetings can be scheduled via Zoom or FaceTime. Although these don’t replace the actual viewing of samples in person, they offer an alternative to get the discussion started while we wait for the green light to take in-office appointments again.
